Lublin as the European cradle of Chinese automotive industry?

Lublin became the first city in the European Union, which has started the production of Chinese car brands. Pol-Mot Warfama company has begun assembly of ZX Auto Grandtiger with Hyundai’s diesel engine. The value of the Chinese contract amounts 60 mln PLN for three years. The car received the EU approval certificate in 2009, and can be driven on roads in each European country. Sales of the model priced at 65,000 PLN will start next month.

Meanwhile, as the Dziennik Wschodni reported, two new investors appeared on the horizon. They are interested the former assembly hall of Daewoo Motor in Lublin, which has never been used so far. The building was intended to assembly commercial model LD 100, but the Daewoo withdrew from Poland before had started production of the new model. The new investor wants to assemble 60,000 - 80,000 passenger cars a year. The initial agreement probably will be sign on May 26 - Dziennik Wschodni said.

We don’t have any information about the name of potential company. Perhaps it can be the Jiangling Motors Group Company, the owner of Landwind brand. The company announced an investment in a new factory near Opole in 2008, but backed away from their intentions.
