Jianghuai Automobile Co. (JAC) has launched sales of its first electric vehicle model in Hefei in east China's Anhui province where the state-owned automaker is based. JAC sold 60 units of the EV, which is developed on the platform of its Tojoy compact sedan, to Anhui Minsheng Electric Power Investment Co. - according to Auto News China.

BYD S6DM - the advanced copy of Lexus RX

Chinese automaker BYD brought out the plug-in hybrid S6DM at the North American International Auto Show this week. The automaker says the vehicle "is the world's first independent 4WD dual-mode electric SUV," a title Lexus would surely argue belongs to their RX hybrid. Chery Auto to start selling electric car S18 in H2

Chery Auto, China's largest independent carmaker, is set to start selling its first plug-in electric car model S18 in the second half of this year as the government has announced its plans to support and subsidize more eco-friendly vehicles, media reported today. The company expects to sell about 30,000 S18 electric cars annually within three or four years, an executive of Chery's new energy vehicle operations said earlier. The car will cost as much as 130,000 yuan ($19,200). Chery unveiled the S18 model in February 2009.
