The American automotive company, ZAP, recently completed its purchase of Zhejiang’s Jonway Auto. The merger was announced by ZAP’s CEO Steve Schneider at the Chengdu Auto Forum in late 2010 and is the first instance of a Chinese automotive company being majority owned by an American company. Although Jonway is a small company, they are prepared for the big time – they have achieved ISO 9000 certification and have over 3.6 million square feet of factory space.
China Automobile Company has started the sale of controversies Shuanghuan CEO and Zhejiang Jonway UFO models in Germany. As Automobilwoche announced, currently there are around 80 sale’s points on the German market, and next models will be presented at the Paris motor show. Among them there will be likely Gonow’s SUV and pickup, as well as utility vehicle, being a competitor for Fiat Ducato.
At the Leipzig motor show, two local importers - HSO Motors Europe and China Automobile Deutschland presented Chinese models. First of them – as an official Brilliance’s importer in Europe – showed three the most popular producer’s models: BS4, BS6 and BC3 coupe. The second company presented three models of different car makers: Shuanghuan CEO, Zhejiang Jonway UFO and Gonow SUV.
China Automobile Deutschland plans to enlarge Chinese cars’ offer, introducing three new models, one of which will be Landmark SUV made by Zhongxing Automobile (ZX Auto). The car will cost 27,000 EUR. To compare – the basis version of the car in China costs 119,800 yuan, which equals 10,900 EUR. In fact, the price is nearly 150% higher. It is worth to accent, that it is possible to order Landmark in Poland with the price of 80,000 PLN.

Włoska spółka DR Automobiles Groupe, chce zlecić Bertone montaż modelu o nazwie DR3, bazującego na chińskim modelu UFO. Dodanie kolejnego auta pozwoli na zwiększenie produkcji we włoskich zakładach z 7 do 12 tys. sztuk i oddali proces bankructwa producenta karoserii. Obecnie upadająca firma ma możliwość produkowania 70 000 sztuk pojazdów rocznie, ale 30 000 sztuk to minimalny próg rentowności. Bertone podaje, że przez ostatnie 3 lata straciła ponad 37 mln euro.
