GM to export Wuling mini-vans under Chevy brand

General Motors said today that it will sell mini-commercial vehicles made by SAIC-GM-Wuling, one of its joint ventures in China, to emerging markets in North Africa, South America and the Middle East, media reported. GM and its Chinese partners have signed deals to export the Wuling N200 and N300 series of vehicles and sell them under the Chevrolet brand through GM's distribution networks in those regions. The first shipment of 150 Chevrolet N200 series vehicles was scheduled to depart from the port of Guangzhou today.

Audi has won in customers sale’s quality satisfaction survey in China. In top ten, the local producer – First Automotive Works (FAW) has appeared as well. It has the same score as Mercedes-Benz and placed itself on the second position. Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) was calculated on the base of 8,954 new purchasers’ opinions about 45 the most popular brands.

GM and Wuling want to compete against the Tata Nano car

General Motor could increase its share in SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., as it looks to offer cheap small cars to compete with the Tata Nano car from India. GM wants to join to getting larger car makers' group, marketing inexpensive cars. The company currently offers vans and pickup trucks for under 3,000 USD. Nano's price is expected to start at around 2,500 USD.
