MG enters BTCC with MG6 dream team

MG Motor has announced it will enter the 2012 BTCC Series with a ‘dream team’ of cars, drivers, constructors and sponsors. Two MG6 GT cars will run in the all-new MG KX Momentum Racing team piloted by double BTCC champion Jason Plato and BTCC rising star Andy Neate. The cars will be prepared by Triple Eight Race Engineering, one of the most successful constructors in touring car racing. And completing the ‘dream team’ are principal sponsors Tesco Fuels with their Momentum 99 brand and KX energy drink completing an all-British line-up.

The new MG concept car

The MG Concept 5 is one of a whole array of models that Chinese auto giant Shanghai Auto is planning for the marque and sister brand Roewe over the next five years, as it aims to sell 700,000 cars globally by 2015 - according to Inside Line. For Concept 5, read MG5, with this sportily proportioned five-door hatchback previewing a Golf-class car due out at the end of 2011, to slot beneath the slightly larger MG6.

MG3 - the new rival in the city car segment

After four year of work SAIC introduces small MG3 model on the market. The car which comes from the concept of model 'Zero' has been presented at several auto shows, but just now it went into journalist’s hands. Producer is proud, that MG6 is sixth element of the MG’s urban models evolution which has stared in 1924, when Austin Seven was introduced. MG is back - journalists laud, SAIC announces another cars

Chinese carmaker wins MG trademark battle

A Chinese manufacturer has won its High Court battle over a famous name in British motoring history. Judge Sir William Blackburne said the Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) had acquired the rights to the MG trademarks and logos. He ordered Sports and Racing Europe, based in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, to stop using the famous octagonal logo and name on its MG X POWER supercar. The judge ruled it was infringing the marks and had no entitlement to them - according to BBC News.

SAIC Motor starts selling self-developed MG 6 sedan

SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co., an own-brand vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor, yesterday started selling its self-developed MG 6 mid-class sedan in the domestic market, Xinhua News reported. The car is priced from 128,800 yuan ($18,800) to 192,800 yuan. SAIC Motor said the MG 6, available with a 1.8-liter engine and a turbo version, is especially designed for the Asian and European markets. At the 2009 Shanghai auto show in April, the car was unveiled as an own-brand concept of SAIC Motor, which has developed the MG and Roewe brands on the basis of acquired technology.

International launch of all new MG

MG Motor is proud to annunce today, the international launch of the MG6, the first all new MG motor car since the launch of the MGF sports car. SAIC launches new version of MG7 with turbocharged engine

A new, longer, turbocharged version of the MG7 was launched in China in July to boost sales and strengthen the car's image as a luxury car - according to Auto News China. The MG7 L has a larger wheelbase of 2949 mm and stretches 4949 mm long. But the mega change is the shift to a turbocharged engine. The MG7 L comes with a 1.8T Kavachi T engine, with power output of 118 kw (160 hp) and torque of 215Nm.

SAIC Motor to build more 1.5L, 1.5T MG cars

SAIC Motor announced last week that it has adjusted its small-emission engine strategy based on the MG model and will mainly use the 1.5L and 1.5T series of engines on its future models. Since acquiring Nanjing Auto at the beginning of 2008, SAIC has restructured the MG powertrain strategy and the 2.566 billion yuan ($375.7 mln) new project in Nanjing will start production at the end of this year. This new facility will become China's largest production platform of A-class cars, including an engine production line with an annual capacity of 250,000 units.

MG6 – the first completely new MG since 2001

Debuting at the Shanghai Show mG6 hatchback, will be the first since 2001 new model of MG Brand sold in Great Britain. Two models 0 ZS and ZT were last newness, as British Autocar informed, quoting SAIC sources, which is the Chinese owner of MG, Roewe and Ssanyong brands. Sale is to start in the first half of 2010.
