Chinese copy of Yaris Verso certificated in Europe!

In September the court of appeal in Turin hold the previous judgment of the lower tribunal, which prohibits the sale of Fiat Panda (Peri) in Europe. Europe was pleased to know, that Chinese cars’ copies will not be a market danger. Japanese carmakers are in even worse situation, because they have not reserved patent rights in Europe.

The most popular Japanese brand is Toyota, and Great Wall is the one, which copies Toyota’s products the most. The information about receiving patent rights for the Feelfine minivan appeared in the network. These rights prove the originality of the car. How is it possible? The new generation of Yaris Verso – which available under the name Ractis – was not launched in Europe, and Toyota did not lay the proper patent documents.

The situation with RAV4 copy is similar. The car is being offered as Jonway Ufo in Europe. Toyota’s sources has unveiled, that the car company reserved the right protecting design on the Chinese market, but is not going to hold UFO’s sale on that market, because it does not treat the car as a competitor. The company can not forbid the car’s sale in Europe, because it did not try to get the patent right.

Below there are examples of Chinese Toyota’s copies:

Great Wall Florid (Scion xA)

Great Wall CoolBear (Scion xB)

Great Wall i7 (Toyota Yaris)

BYD F3 (Toyota Corolla)

BYD F0 (Toyota Aygo)

Chery Tiggo (Toyota RAV4)

Dadi (Toyota Land Cruiser)
