Few years ago, Geely presented Beaty Leopard model on the local market, advertising it as the first Chinese sport car, but the controversial design and poor performance caused small popularity of the car. Chinese company launched the successor under the name “Chinese Dragon”, which is to fulfill people’s dreams about cheap coupe. The basic version was priced for 35,000 PLN.
Car’s design, especially an aggressive front body, refers to traditional signs of legendary dragon. Two ends of exhaust system, 15’ alloy wheels and four disk brakes, alloy pedals and sport gear knob are to underline by sport aspiration of the car. Because of performance, the car can not be compared with traditional coupe models. Customers might choose two petrol engines - 1.5l DOHC with variable timing-gear with 94hp and 1.8l DOHC with 113 hp. The first one lets the car reach the maximum speed of 175 km/h, the second one – 190 km/h. In both cases, five-gears manual gearbox is assembled.
The offer includes only one level of equippement, and the only after-payment (nearly 1,000 PLN) is connected with stronger engine. Each of the car is equipped with i.a. automatic air conditioning, leather two-coloured trim, leather steering wheel, audio CD MP3 with 6 speakers and USB kit, full electric windows and mirrors. Safety equipment includes: ABS and two airbags. Paring sensors are standard equipment as well.
The car appeared on the market after over four years of debuts during different kind of auto shows. In 2005, one unit was presented under the name CD – the short of Chinese Dragon – in Europe at the IAA show.
