Chinese cars rotting in Rotterdam

What happens to cars that were Made in China then sold to a European distributor, only for the EU distributor to be banned from selling them? They sit in Rotterdam Port rotting. The below pictures were forwarded to China Car Times several days ago by an insider who was able to visit Rotterdam Port, one of the largest deep sea ports in the world for car import and exports. It seems that the CEO SUV’s have been sitting out in the cold European sea air for several years.

Chinese Smart comes back to Europe

Martin Motors company once again presented Chinese Shuanghuan Bubble model with its own badge at the 2010 Bologna Auto Show. The car arouses controversy at the beginning, because its design resembles of Smart ForTwo to much. After more then three years of battle, Daimler and Martin Motors has achieved an agreement in April, which allowed on the legal sale of mini car in whole Europe. The sale has been implementing in Greece so far, where the local court has rejected accusations of Daimler.

Greek court rules against Daimler on China SUV

Last year when Chinese carmaker Shuanghuan Auto's Noble SUV went on sale in Europe, Daimler, parent company of Mercedes-Benz and Smart, had a funny feeling of familiarity and decided to intervene, claiming that the Noble looked uncomfortably similar to the Smart Fortwo. However, Greek courts recently ruled against Daimler, declaring that "an informed buyer would not confuse the Noble with the Smart Fortwo", according to Australia's auto news site Motor Report.

German importer has to destroy BMW X5 copies

Second court tribunal hold the judgment announced in Munich, which pronounced in June last year the prohibition of selling Shuanghuan CEO in Germany. China Automobile Deutschland (CAD) company, being an official importer of the car, is obliged to pay penalty and destroy imported cars. CED representatives accented earlier, that the first judgment was one-sided, because it was taken in the city, where BMW comes from.

Legal copy of Smart in Europe this year

The Chinese copy of Smart will be offered on European markets in the second half of the year - according a prestigious service Automotive News Europe. Unofficial sources say, that lawyers of Mercedes and Italian company’s Martin Motors, are closer to an amicable solution of distribution controversial model. The price of basic version with 1.1L (68hp) engine will be 10,500 EUR in West Europe.

Shuanghuan CEO legally in Italy

The German court cut the sale of Chinese made Shuanghuan CEO off in July. According to BMW representatives, the car is too similar to off road X5 model. In the meantime, BMW has lost a court action in Italy that claimed a Chinese-built SUV infringed the German automaker's copyright. The Italian Martin Motors company is responsible for the car’s import.

China Automobile Polska – the next "bridgehead" of European project: China Automobile

Poland is the next development’s stage of European project – CHINA AUTOMOBILE, which is covering Europe very fast. The polish department will be running under the China Automobile Polska Sp. z o.o name. Similarly to other countries, Shuanghuan CEO will be the first model going to be sold. It is the first Chinese off-road car with European official certification.

Shuanghuan CEO to be sold in Czech Republic and France

Czech media announced, that the sale of controversial Shuanghuan CEO will start in October. The model will be the first Chinese car, officially offered in Czech Republic. In the same time, German China Automobile Company affirmed the information, that its French division – China Automobile France – will start CEO’s sale in spring 2009.

Shuanghuan CEO’s sale is hold

The judgment in Munich pronounced that Shuanghuan CEO, being produced in China can’t be sold in Germany. In specialists’ opinion the car is too similar to BMW X5 model. BMW representatives had already took some legislative steps, to make the Chinese car’s sale impossible.

Chinese RAV4 to be sold for 53,750 PLN in Germany

China Automobile Company has started the sale of controversies Shuanghuan CEO and Zhejiang Jonway UFO models in Germany. As Automobilwoche announced, currently there are around 80 sale’s points on the German market, and next models will be presented at the Paris motor show. Among them there will be likely Gonow’s SUV and pickup, as well as utility vehicle, being a competitor for Fiat Ducato.
