Evolution of Chinese Rolls-Royce

According to promise of FAW Car’s board, during National Day celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding the People's Republic of China, the new edition of luxury brand “Red Flag" (Hongqi) saw the daylight. The flagship sedan was presented at Shanghai Motor Show in 2005 as HQD, and it received nickname ‘Chinese Rolls-Royce’. A production version of this car has modified body, thanks to which it refers to its predecessors.

FAW Car starts to sell 1.6L Besturn B50 sedan

The 1.6L Besturn B50 sedan went on sale on May 16 as the first model of FAW Car Co's own-brand Besturn series, said xinhuanet.com today. This low-emission Besturn model will benefit from the government's small-car sales tax policy and sell for 98,800 yuan ($14,500) to 125,800 yuan. On March 3, the Besturn B50 rolled off the production line at the Changchun plant of FAW Car, a subsidiary of FAW Group, and was displayed at the 2009 Shanghai auto show last month. It is based on the previous generation Mazda 6 platform, and equipped with a 1.6L gasoline engine with peak power of 76/6000 (kW/rpm), available with manual and automatic transmission versions.

FAW shows 22 own-brand models in Shanghai

Chinese auto giant FAW Group has brought 22 vehicle models of its four own brands Jiefang, Hongqi, Xiali and Besturn, 11 engines and three transmission products to the 2009 Shanghai auto show, xinhuanet.com reported today. FAW said it would increase research and development (R&D) spending by 61% to 4.23 billion yuan ($619 million) this year.

FAW rolls out Besturn B50 today, to sell by May

The long-awaited Besturn B50 sedan model of FAW Car Co., a subsidiary of FAW Group, rolled off the production line in Changchun today. It is the second model of the FAW Besturn brand, after the 2009 Besturn B70, said xinhuanet.com today. The Besturn B50 will go on sale by early May.

FAW to launch all-new Hongqi limo HQE in '09

FAW Car Co., Ltd is set to release its all-new Hongqing limousine HQE model later this year to restore the time-honored "Red Flag" (Hongqi) brand to its former glory, said 163.com today. The HQE limo will be also sold through the integrated network of the FAW Besturn. Reportedly, the royal "Red Flag" HQE limousine has been designated as the VIP car for Chinese president's inspection of the military parade on October 1, 2009, the National Day to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

FAW Hongqi SUV – the future of Chinese off-roads

FAW Group concern presented concept SUV at the Pekin motor show. The car will be available under prestigious brand Hongqi. The carmaker accents, that it is the first off-road model of this brand, and the aim is to compete in luxury off-roads’ segment, where Audi Q7 and BMW X5 are leaders. Its asset will be strong engine and rich equipment similar to the European level.

FAW B50 – as a direct Roewe 550 competitor

According to announcements, FAW has presented today the new B50 sedan, which, under the Honqui Brand, will compete with Roewe 550 in one segment. Drafts of projects, marked as B131 code, appeared in web over two weeks ago, as a part of planned campaign launching a new model. The model was being worked up through two years. According to unofficial information, the basic price will be 18,500 USD, when Roewe’s prices will start from 16,575 USD.

FAW B131 hybrid, means 5.8L/100 km

FAW is going to present the newest sedan signed as B131 at Pekin motor show, exactly on 12th of April. The vehicle will be available with hybrid drive, with 1,5L (100hp) engine, as well as electric engine with 40hp of power. According to unofficial information, the basic version of the car will cost 129,800 yuan (18,500 USD).

Chinese Rolls-Royce with 6.0L V12 engine in 2009

irst Automotive Works (FAW) delays marketing of luxury Hongqi HQD and, according to the latest information, announces that the car is going to appear not earlier than in the middle of 2009. Vehicle’s price will be record for local conditions and will amount 5 millions yuan (over 700,000 USD). The top engine 6.0L V12 (code CA12GV) will be driven the car. First models will be used as representative vehicles for overseas government’s visitors.

The first Chinese V12 engine is coming

Chinese radio announced, that on 22nd of February in Technological Center FAW Group Corp., the first uruchomienie of V12 engine (CA12GV) took place. The new, alloy petrol unit will be assembled in Hongqi models in future, and series production is going to start in April 2009. The top engine has got many modern solutions, which was first used on the local market.
