Chery Auto plans to overtake BYD in 2010 sales

China's largest indigenous automaker Chery Auto plans to outsell its home-grown rival BYD Auto this year, the China Business News (CBN) reported Monday, citing an unnamed source. Ma Deji, Chery's deputy general manager, said its company has set the 2010 sales target at 700,000 units. But a company insider told the CBN that Chery will not loose ground to the Shenzhen-based BYD Auto, which has planned to sell 800,000 units this year.

Electric BYD E6 almost in Poland

BYD Auto is going to expand in Europe. Chinese producer famous from production of hybrid cars will compete for customers in new, rapidly growing electric car’s segment. The main weapon of Chinese giant will be a "E6" model, the first mass-produced electric, 5-seater van. At present, BYD Corp., the owner of BYD Auto, has two battery’s factories in Europe - in Romania and Hungary.

BYD to display e6, F3DM in Detroit next month

China's BYD Auto has received a lot of recognition for vehicles they have been working on. Many are eagerly awaiting the companies offerings expected to arrive in the U.S. next year. The company has promised low prices, long ranges, and other innovative technology. Women from Beijing sued BYD Auto, because airbags didn’t activate in her car during road accident. She claims, that the high level of safety in this car is overrated. The woman said, that her friend who had borrowed the vehicle was involved in a serious rear-end collision the next month, suffered concussion and was in hospital for one week after the crash - according to motoring.asiaone.com.

BYD Auto sells less than 100 F3DM EVs in 8 months

Chinese automaker BYD Auto Co., Ltd. is reported to have sold less than 100 F3DM (dual-mode) EVs (electric vehicles) by the end of this August, and Morgan Stanley thought that the actual F3DM sales would fall far behind the goal of 3000 to 4000 units set earlier this year. However, large Chinese automakers and regional government are still bullish on new energy vehicles, and making "abnormal" plans. Experts warmed that the blind expansion of new energy vehicles would possibly lead to redundant construction and overcapacity.


BYD to sell G3 car in Q4, priced 80,000 yuan

BYD's first self-developed upmarket sedan model was unveiled at an auto show in east China's Shandong province last week and is ready to go on sale in the fourth quarter this year, Chinese media reported today. The G3 is certainly different from BYD's all other models so far and will have an independent A3 sales network, with the A1 network for the F3, F6 models and A2 network for the F3R, F0 models. The G3 is the first model to sell through BYD's A3 network.

BYD signs contract to supply lithium batteries to SAIC

Chinese battery and electric car maker BYD Co has reached an agreement with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) to supply the automaker with lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicle productions, The Beijing News reports Tuesday, citing source from SAIC. The source said SAIC would purchase BYD's lithium-ion batteries to power its own brand Roewe hybrid vehicles.

Austria dealer to import Geely and BYD cars from 2010

The Austrian car dealer Denzel said it plans to import cars made by Chinese manufacturer Geely Holding Group Co and BYD Auto from 2010, Austrian newspaper kurier reports. Denzel signed partnership contracts with the two Chinese manufacturers back in 2008 but is still waiting for their car models to pass the Euro NCAP crash test. Denzel will start to sell these models in Europe when everything is ready.

Breakthrough BYD E6 to be bought in Poland

The company Stampa from Łódź has already started to collect orders for BYD E6 – the first Chinese electric van. This information was unveiled few days ago by daily “Polska”, precisely one year after Stanisław Pamuła (the owner of the company) announced the intention of selling urban electric vehicles sold in China. The offer was changed because of “missing possibility of getting safety certificates obtaining in European Union, so called CEE”.
