Great Wall to produce Logan?

Renault considers cooperation with Chinese Koncern Great Wall Motor (GWM), Automotive News Europe has announced. Renault’s spokesperson affirmed, that both companies has already sign the letter of intent to carry out a feasibility study on building low – cost Logan together for the Venezuelan market. Currently, the analysis about project’s profitability are conducting. According to Preliminary information, the project is to be finished in the beginning of 2010.

Chery Auto mulls opening factory in Brazil

Big Chinese automaker Chery is considering open a 700-million-dollar factor in Brazil to tap into the country's growing market, and to learn more about building biofuel-capable engines, Brazil's Gazeta Mercantil daily reported Friday. "Our development center is already working on this project," the head of Chery, Yin Tongyao, said. The plant, which would supply the Latin American market, would be built by 2012 if it goes ahead, he said.

Geely buys Drivetrain Systems International

Geely were announced today as the successful buyer of Drivetrain Systems International. For those not familiar with DSI, they are one of the worlds largest gearbox manufacturers, and already produce six speed automatic gearboxes for use in RWD, and AWD vehicles for Ford, Chrysler, and Ssangyong. According to media reports, DSI are researching 8 speed transmissions, as well as CVT and double clutch technology.

GWM wins Libya's order for 3,300 Deer pickups

On March 13, Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM) announced that it has won a big deal of 3,300 Deer pickups from the Libyan government. This is another triumph for GWM following the 4,500-unit bid from the Cuban authorities. Chengdu Evening News reported today, citing sources from GWM.

Changan to assemble vehicles in Mexico in 2010

Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. and its Mexican partner Autopark Group plan to start assembling Changan's vehicles in Mexico in the second half of 2010 - according service autonewschina.com. They will first start selling imported vehicles there later this year.

Great Wall Pick-up was donated to Pakistan

Electric Changan CV6 this year in Canada

Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. will partner with Canadian battery maker Electrovaya Inc. to start assembling and selling electric Ben Ben (known in China as CV6) in Canada later this year. Anyway, the car does not have the full official certification and is not allowed to move on public roads.

Chery to hit Iranian roads by January '09

An Iranian carmaker has struck a deal with Chery, the largest independent car company in China, to assemble 6,000 vehicles in 2009. The announcement was made by Seyyed Hossein Ahmadi, head of the Industries and Mines Department of Khorasan Razavi province, at an auto fair in the capital city Mashhad. Sanabad Khorasan Khodro, an affiliate of Iran Khodro -- the Middle East's largest carmaker -- will begin assembly of the vehicles in January 2009 in the northeastern Khorasan Razavi province, and will use Chinese technology.

Geely will be another company in Mexico

Gelly Automobile announced it’s plan to build a new faktory in Mexico, to supply both South and North American markets. Chinese company will invest up to $270 million to build a factory in León, the capital of Guanajuato state in central Mexico. Geely believes Mexico will provide a stepping-stone to achieve its ultimate ambition: conquering the U.S. market.

China's Lifan 520 rolls off line in Iran

The first batch of Lifan 520 cars have rolled off the production line in Kerman Motor Co in Iran, according to sources of Chongqing Lifan Industry (Group), a large private enterprise centering on the technology development, manufacture and sales of vehicles and motorcycles in China.
