Lifan 320 to be produced in Russia next year

Russian automaker Derways will start 2011 to assemble the Lifan 320 model, a five-door compact hatchback developed by the Chinese automaker Chongqing Lifan Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., a Russian media reported Tuesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The Lifan 320 measures (LxWxH) 3755mm x 1624mm x 1435mm, with a 2340mm wheelbase, and is powered by a self-developed 1.3L engine (LF479Q3) capable of 65kw/6000rpm and 155km/h, sources said.

FAW Haima assembly plant in Russia goes into operation

FAW Haima Motor Co, a Hainan island-based subsidiary of FAW, has recently put into operation its KD plant in Russia, which will initially produce the Haima 3 sedan Haima 3 hatchback models. Nine hundred Haima cars are expected to be manufactured at the plant by the end of the year, with the first batch delivered to local dealers around November 15.

Geely inaugurates vehicle assembly line in Russia

An assembly line of Chinese automaker Geely was officially launched in Russia's Caucasus republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, local media reported Saturday. Russian car company Derways has started body welding and other assembling work of Geely-brand vehicles on Friday, according to Russian state TV channel Russia-24.

Great Wall Motor to build assembly plant in Moscow

Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., one of China's indigenous automakers, is reported to create an assembly plant in Moscow in 2010, and the annual production capacity will likely reach 50,000 sedans. Upon the cooperation agreement Great Wall Motor has entered into with its promoter in Russia, about USD 25 million will be invested in the to-be-built factory. Apart from the vend in the Russian market, the Chinese company plans export of the vehicles yielded from the Moscow-based plant to Europe.

Geely-branded vehicles to be assembled in Russia

Chinese private automaker Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. agrees to stop exporting complete vehicles to Russia soon, and instead, the Geely-branded vehicles will be assembled there. The company will possibly reach accord with the Circassian plant Derways after the termination of its contract with a Russian agent that is exclusively responsible for Geely products exported to Russia, they added.

Geely has marked the biggest sale's growth in Russia

Passenger cars' sale in Russia has fall down by 50% this year, in July by 58%. Only two brands has improved theirs cumulative results – American Hummer (+109%) and Chinese Geely (+414%). Although record Geely's result is not objective, because the brand's sale on the Russian market started in 2008, sale from last month on the level of 987 units has marked growth by 170%.

Geely production in Russia halted by higher tax

Production of Geely vehicles at Ural Automobiles and Motors in Russia has been suspended for at least 9 months due to the introduction of new import duties on auto parts, Russia media reports. "We plan to resume production after the taxes expire nine months later," said Paul Chernavina, president of Ural Automobiles and Motors.

Chinese auto sales down in Russia market

Chinese auto sales are declining in Russia though the emerging market still posts auto sales increase, xinhuanet.com said today, citing a report by a Russian automotive market research company. The report said the first batch of Chinese vehicles into Russia, mainly pick-ups, sold 260 units in 2004. The later years have seen booming sales of Chinese vehicles, which sold 6,733 units in 2005, taking 1% share in Russia’s imported auto market, 23,000 units in 2006 with 2.3. % market share and up to 57,000 in 2007 with 3.6% share.
