Stanisław Pamuła, businessman from Łódź, who produces i.a. ecological bags and rubbish-bins, has decided to bring to Poland Chinese electric cars. They will be sold in two months time and firstly they will be possible to be seen in Manufaktura Center in Łódź. Cars will have two years of warranty and it will be possible to buy them in installment plan or lease for 3 months. Will there be a demand for them? Below there are few curiosities about these models.
Volt+/Volt+MINI - Chinese "HY series"
The car is produced since the half of 2006 by Shandong Huoyun Electromobile company. Some number of cars – under City Spirit name – hit Great Britain and Hungary, where they were to be offered for 4,200 EUR since the beginning of 2007. The car was though too similar to Smart, and then DaimlerChrysler decided not to charge the Chinese producer if the body of the car will be changed. Effects are possible to see on pictures – modernized model is shorter by 200mm, doors, back and load space were changed as well. Local web visitors accent the fact, that even in modernized model – doors and steering wheel with logo come from Chery QQ (Matiz’s copy).
Volt+A /Volt R+ - Chinese "Happy Emissary"
The producer of the car, which is based on Daihatsu Move, is the second biggest Chinese holding - First Automotive Works (FAW). At the beginning of 2006, Italian company DR Automobiles was planning to start sale of this model, but with traditional engine. The car was expected to cost 4,000 EUR, but high costs of adjusting it to European emission’s and safety’s standards raised the price to 6,000 EUR. Without official certification the project was not started. Electric ones models are produced in factory Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co., and half of them are is exported. In USA, but mainly in California, they are sold by local Miles Automotive Group company. Electric versions of them are known under “ZX40” name.
Volt+4 - means "Chinese Lobo"
The Hafei Motor company is a producer of the car. It was designed by Italian Pininfarina, and the production started in 2002. Last year the car was a little bit changed. It is nearly unknown in Europe. In 2006 Belgium, Cardoen Group imported few models to see consumer’s reaction, but the idea of selling them felt. Some of cars are sold in Russia under “Brio” name. Both Russians and Chinese have already conducted crash tests. During official certification’s measurements (when driving 50 km/h instead of 64 km/h) front columns were warped. What is interesting, there is no information on producer’s webpage about electric drive…
