Voleex C10 - the new rival of Dacia Sandero and Tata Indica Vista

The official sales of Great Wall Motor (GWM) started in Bulgaria. The first offer includes three models - small city car Voleex C10, Hover H5 SUV and Steed 5 pickup. Each of them meet EURO 5 standard, have full homologation and can be sold in the European Union. Without any doubt, the most interesting car in presented group is controversial Voleex C10. This car was created to compete with such models as Dacia Sandero or Tata Indica Vista and is the fisrt Chinese passenger car which has real chance to fight for a European client.
At the moment of debut clients in Bulgaria can order only one version named "Great Edition", which cost 15,990 BGN (about 8,200 EUR). According to earlier announcements, the base version of the car should cost BGN 12,500 BGN, but a list of equipment has not been published so far. Voleex C10 has 3,8m length and look like Toyota Yaris second generation. Although the interiors of both vehicles vary widely, no one doubts that Chinese designers based on Toyota model. But one thing is absolutely new in the car. Client can choose one of the two fronts of car, normal and with vertical ribs, haracterized for Sport variant. In future the offer will be completed by sedan (C30 code).
Standard equipment of top version (for 8,200 EUR) includes: manual air conditioning, radio, MP3 with USB and AUX output, 6 speakers, electric windows and mirrors (also folding), central locking with remote control, 15"alloy wheels and front fog lamps. For safety are responsible: 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, rear parking sensors, as well as 4 disc brakes. According to the new EU law, the car will get ESP system in next year. The list of options will include side and curtain airbags. Currently clients have only two options - metallic paint, LPG installation. Voleex C10 has 1.5 liter petrol engine with variable valve timing which introduced 97 hp (138 Nm). It allows to achieve 175 km/h and acceleration 0-100 in 11,1 seconds. The most interesting thing is, that the car has 5 years warranty mileage 100,00 kilometers. It was offered only by Koran’s brands in city car segment.
Examples of Landwind and Brilliance showed, that bad results in Euro NCAP crashtest can stop of Chinese car in Europe. But not this time. Sedan version won C-NCAP Five Star Safety Recognition with the achievement of 46.4 points, obtaining authority certification concerning quality. Voleex C30 gained achievements of 13.19 points, 16 points and 15.16 points respectively in three projects of "Frontal 100% Overlapping Rigid Barrier Impact Test" , "Deformable Moving Barrier Side Impact Test" and "Frontal 40% Overlapping Deformable Barrier Impact Test", in which it obtained 2 bonus marks by complying with the requirements specified by C-NCAP at the aspect of the front seat belt reminder unit and ISOFIX unit (the fixed installation of the child seat) and passed C-NCAP five star safety assessment finally with a total score of 46.4 points.
We don’t know how Toyota will respond for Great Wall Motor’s debut, but it is possible, that Japanese company will try to block sales of car in the European Union, as Fiat has stopped sales of Panda’s copies (Peri).
Cars offered in Bulgaria come from imports now, but by the end of the year all cars will be produced in a local factory in Lovech. Litex Motors is responsible for assembly of Great Wall Motor models. The locally company has signed a cooperation agreement with GWM three years ago.

The news about potential investment of Great Wall Motor was revealed by Dziennik Wschodni, which relying on the direct information from the local government. According to newspaper, GWM considers assembly passenger car and commercial vehicles in the former Daewoo’s factory. Representatives of Chinese company visited Poland with the Prime Minister of China in late April. Is there any chance to implement a new project?

This year's Auto show theme was "Innovate and Excel" and BYD did both displaying 3 new break-through technologies in their new vehicles. The BYD Qin is an intelligent, next-generation, highly-efficient dual-mode electric vehicle that uses BYD's new, innovative Dual Mode II system with improvements over the first generation's F3DM system.
Polish traders are not interesting of Chinese pickups. This conclusion stems from fast dropping prices of the model ZX Auto Grandtiger produced in 2011. Dealers which has decided distributing of the car compete together who give the lowest price. Grandtiger, which normally costs less then 17,000 EUR* (without taxes) for the best version with two airbags, air conditioning and metallic color, currently is offered for 13,350 EUR*. It is very competitive price, because is equipped with Hyundai’s 2.5l (170 hp) diesel engine and three year warranty.
The registration data provided by IBRM Samar show, that only 40 Chinese cars were registered in Poland in 2011. Although this result isn’t impressive, it is more twice than in 2010, when the number of registrations was 19. For comparison, a Samar reported 13 units of models „made in China” in 2009, so Polish market is growing up.
Beiqi Foton will debut on the Polish market later this year. One of the biggest Chinese producer of commercial vehicles is building sales network. Although we don’t know the official Foton’s offer, we can suppose that only new cars with European homologation and Euro 5 norm can appear on the Polish streets. Foton has only one model which meets our expectations. It is a newest pickup named Foton Tunland (code P201).
