Top Gear presenters will show new MG models

MG will give two cars their Midlands debuts at next month’s MPH show featuring Top Gear Live at the NEC. As well as showing the finished version of the MG6 sports hatchback in right hand drive for the first time, MG will also premiere its forthcoming global supermini - according to Express and Star. It will show off the MG Zero, which will form the basis of the smaller model range that is due to follow the MG6 into production.

The concept was first shown at the Beijing Automotive Show earlier in the year and received rave reviews. Although MG is now Chinese owned, the Zero has been designed and developed in the UK by a team led by the firm’s design director Anthony Williams-Kenny.

Its unveiling at the NEC will mark the first time that the car has been seen in full UK specification in the Midlands prior to the start of production at Longbridge. The MG6 is due to go on sale in the New Year.

The two MGs will make their European debuts at the Earls Court leg of MPH on November 4 before heading up to Birmingham on November 11. MPH combines a display of exotic cars with a live show starring Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
