Shandong LuJun as LUIS Free to debut in Germany

Shandong LuJun founded in China in 2006 will start sales its cars in Germany on September 9. Official representative of Chinese company became German LUIS AG (Ahensburg), which is going to sell electric cars under new created brand ‘LUIS Free’. First offer includes only one, four-seater mini car with two versions of engine and two versions of equipment.

These configurations has been named LUIS Free Basic (for EUR 11,999) and LUIS Free Comfort (for (EUR 14,999). The first one will be offer with 5,5 kW electric motor which can achieve 60 km/h and 120-160 kilometre’s range. Second variant has bigger 8,5 kW engine, can reach 80 km/h and about 210 kilometre’s range. Chinese cars use archaic lead-acid battery. The German importer affirms, that to full load of battery by standard 230V socket needs 10 hours, and lifespan is about 600-800 rechargers.

In order to bridge the huge gap between Chinese and European technological thought, German importer installs a lot of electronic gadgets to improve driving’ comfort, including: Bluetooth, parking sensors and multimedia system. Customers can also order side-airbags (for EUR 1,390), ESP system (EUR 1,150) as well as modern lithium-ion batteries, which cost almost as much as the whole car (EUR 11,900).

The importer will sale Chinese cars directly through WWW.FREE.LUIS.DE website. Similarly like most of smaller Chinese manufactures, Shandong LuJun also ‘uses’ projects of foreign companies. Four-seater car looks like popular Matiz. Not very successful change of bumpers and front waist don’t dispel doubts, what kind of car it is, because most of the dimensions are the same.

LUIS AG expects it can sell about 10,000 cars next year. German Experts indicate, that ridiculously high prices, outdated technology and poor quality doomed LUIS to collapse.
