Landwind CV-9 will be crashed by Euro NCAP

European organization Euro NCAP has announced the list of vehicles which will be destroyed in next part of tests. For the first time in the history of this organization the list included also Chinese representative - Landwind CV-9. Crash test result has a symbol meaning, because five year ago information about disastrous results of Landwind SUV went around the world and it was the worst score in ADAC history. Will a new model share a fate of predecessor?

Although any European organization didn’t crash CV-9 so far, however the results of crash tests conducted in China in 2007 aren’t optimistic. In local proof Landwind CV-9 received only 3 stars, what is a very poor result, even comparing with other models of Chinese brands. Importantly, the score was achieved with less stringent parameters, e.g. speed of cars during test with deformable barrier was 56 km/h, less 8 km/h than in Europe. In this case, 8 km/h makes a huge difference, what have proved Americans with Hyundai Accent some time ago.

China: C-NCAP plans to revise new car assessment program

Landwind SUV was withdrawn from sale in the Netherlands after the publication of ADAC results in 2005, where he began its European expansion. As we can see the story back, because CV-9 has its debut on vacation in this country. The seven-vehicle configuration was priced at EUR 11,950. Peter Bijvelds, CEO of Landwind Europe, supposes that the car will receive three stars in European crash test. Bijvelds thinks, that people don’t remember the fatal results of off-road model today, and this fact could help in better sale. He has plan to sell 1 500 car in the Netherlands through 23 dealers by the end of this year.

The changes are that the company's fate rests in the hands of Euro NCAP. Whatever the result, information about the CV-9 crash test will go round the whole of Europe. Will there be advertising, or negative publicity, we'll find out soon.
