General Motors' Hummer, dismissed Chinese media reports concerning an alleged tie-up between Hummer and Changfeng. Last week, the Guangzhou Daily reported, that Changfeng Motor had reached a deal for Hummer to build Changfeng vehicles in North America. "We're not doing anything with Changfeng. We have had no discussions," Nick Richards, a spokesman for Hummer, told Inside Line.
Craig MacNab, director of public relations confirms, that company has some dealings with China, but without Hummer’s participation. Last week Chinese media quoted Changfeng representative: "Changfeng is set to provide the chassis to Hummer. In future, Hummer will take the responsibility of assembly and sale of those vehicles under the Hummer brand in North America, while Changfeng will in turn give support for Hummer's entry into the Chinese market."
The Chinese producer of off-roads and pickups sold only 24,428 units on local market last year, stating nearly no growth in comparison to 2006. This years plans say about 50,000 off-roads and 15,000 trucks predicted to be sold.
