Guangzhou Automobile Group has bought platform of Alfa Romeo 166, production of which was stopped in spring 2007. The Chinese carmaker plans to use it to create a higher class model, which will be offered under its own brand. Currently Guangzhou has joint-venture agreements with Toyota and Honda. On the strength of them the cars destined for local and overseas markets are produced (i.e. Honda Jazz).

11 Fiat-based models with Chinese logo?

Guangzhou Auto announced the will of promoting its own Brand in the end of the year. To achieve the goal, the car maker has already invested over 900 mln USD, and currently the new cars’ and engines’ factory has been building, where 100,000 will be built in 2010. Later the number of it will rise to 200,000 units. In the same time 250,000 of engines will be produced as well. The first model under its new brand is to achieve the market in 2010.
