Great Wall Motor and Bulgarian Litex Commerce JSC signed a formal cooperation agreement last week, which main target is to build car factory in the town Lovech. Representatives both countries has committed in new project and has been listed the A Class Investment Project in Bulgaria. As known Bulgaria is a member country of EU. Therefore, the vehicles assembled in the assembly factory can be exported to the surrounding EU member countries and non-EU members countries free of tariff, which is of significance for the penetration of Great Wall Motors into European market, and indicates that the marketing development into EU market has come to the substantial stage.
The assembly factory covers an area of over 400,000 square meters with designed annual production capacity 50,000 units, including welding, painting and assembly workshops. According to the schedule mutually agreed, the first batch of vehicles will roll off the production line in the first half of 2011. Representatives of Great Wall Motor has announced, that the vehicles which will be assembled in new factory, received accordance with the EU homologation standards already accredited to GWM. Its will be Florid, Coolbear, Wingle and Hover 5. The first two are urban cars with length less then 4 metres, but probably a copies of not offered in Europe Scion brand’s models, xA and xB. Wingle is attractive design pickup, which is offer in Italy under Steed name, while Hover 5 is the new SUV, first time presented at Auto Shanghai this year.
Six Bulgarian companies signed cooperation agreements with Chinese partners on Thursday. The official ceremony at the council of ministers was attended by Bulgarian and Chinese government officials, like Bulgarian Development Bank or China Minemetals Development.
In the shadow of European success GWM roll the battle between Chinese company and Italian Fiat. In retaliation for banned sales of Panda’s copy in Europe, Fiat has accused by GWM for spying. Great Wall Motors and Fiat are currently locked in an ongoing suit that claims that Great Wall’s Peri compact car was copied from of Fiat’s Panda model. An Italian court has ruled in favor of Fiat thus banning European sales of the Peri although the final verdict is still pending come March.
