Geely EC8 - the new leader of Chinese safety

In the latest edition of the Chinese crash test C-NCAP, the luxury model Geely Emgrand EC8 got five stars. Although for the observes this result is not surprising, it is worth to noting that thanks to the highest score 49,6 points set a new record for Chinese cars. Unfortunately, parameters of crash test in China are still less demanding for cars than in Europe. The main difference is a speed - 56 km/h instead of 64 km/h. For comparison, Peugeot 508 scored 49 points in China in the same edition of the tests.

Geely consistently implements its plan to become the most innovative producer in China. Ealier groundbraking results received two models - Panda, the first small city car with 5 stars and Emgrand EC7 (46,8 points) which was the safest Chinese car so far. Moreover, EC7 got four stars in Euro NCAP crash test last time. The information about luxury EC8 is also important for European clients, because this car (and smaller Panda) will complement Geely offer in Europe in future. Emgrand EC8, as the flagship model of company, offers the newest technology of producer. This 4,905 mm length car could be equipped with original active safety technology - tire monitoring and safety control technology (BMBS). The BMBS combines the machinery, computing, electronic control and hydraulic control, and can monitor tire pressure on a real-time basis, alert drivers of the changes, and brake the vehicle proactively, thus ensuring driving safety in the event of a tire blowout. The technology has been put to the test for many times and has been proven of great significance to the automobile industry. At the moment the engine range includes only two Mitsubishi units - 2.0l (136 hp) and 2.4l (156 hp). Shortage of Diesel could delay of the decision to introduce the model in Europe. As a reminder, Geely already has started expansion in Italy and Great Britain, and its first model is a smaller sedan EC7.

The Chinese announced last year that will equalize parameters of their tests with the European. In addition to a change in velocity, they will also start scored safety systems such as ESP, and the maximum score will increase from 51 to 62 points. In the last "old" edition of crash tests, five stars got another two Chinese models - JAC B15 and BYD S6, styled SUV Lexus RX, which is expected in Europe in 2013, also as a hybrid version S6DM.

Chinese BYD Company, a worldwide leader manufacturing electric cars, buses, batteries and LED lighting, and the Bulgarian energy giant Bulmineral signed a joint-venture agreement here on Tuesday to build an auto assembly plant. The plant of the 50:50 joint-venture company called Auto Group Motors will be located in the small town of Breznik, some 50 km west of the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

Qoros very close, debut at Geneva Motor Show

Qoros Auto has announced it will be displaying its first car at the next Geneva Motor Show in March. The compact 4-door sedan will be launched in Europe and in China at the same time, followed a hatchback and SUV versions a year later. All vehicles will be produced in cooperation with the Austrian company Magna Steyr. Production of the sedan is to be launched in December in China (Changshu) and will be exported to other markets, including the UK. Meanwhile, recruitment and training of assembly staff has already begun. By next year, the site's production staff is anticipated to exceed 1,500 people, when production of its first model will begin.

Vehicle sales increase, but dealers still see profits drop

China Daily - China's passenger vehicle sales continued to recover in August, with the third-highest year-on-year growth in 20 months, making analysts raise their forecasts for full year sales in 2012. Total sales of cars, sport-utility vehicles, multi-purpose vehicles and minivans increased 11.2 percent over last year to 1,158,921 units in August, according to figures from the China Passenger Car Association. They mean that in the first eight months of the year, 9,205,675 passenger vehicles were sold in the world's largest automobile market, an increase of 6.4 percent year-on-year.

The historical result of Geely in Ukraine

Geely made a new milestone in the history of Chinese automotive industry. In July, the model CK with 723 units headed on the list of most popular models in the Ukraine. It is the first time when the Chinese brand passenger model was the most popular vehicle outside of China. Geely total sales in July reached 1 542 vehicles and was 162% higher than in June. Last month, the brand share was 7.46%, which is also a record result in the history of the brand in Ukraine. A total score of seven months in 2012 was 5 688 units.
