Fiat 600 would be produced in China?

Fiat Auto Poland started production of Seicento/600 model by the end 1997 and during last 13 years more than 1,3 mln cars rolled off Tychy’s assembly line. Last year, Italian producer has completed production of urban model, providing the latest unit to the Museum of Technology in Warsaw. It seemed that it was the end of his story of Fiat 600, but maybe not yet?

Looking at the Fiat’s latest activities, we can suppose, that a the popular city car has a chance to continue its career in China with a Zotye badge. In 2007, Zotye acquired the assembly line tooling and intellectual property rights for Fiat S.p.A’s Lancia Lybra, which was discontinued in Italy in July 2005 and later the Fiat Multipla assembly line. Last year, Chinese company begun production of redesigned Italian models Palio and Siena. Moreover, Strada pickup and Doblo 1-st generation have been appeared on Zotye’s website, as the „Future models”. Several years ago, Wu Motuo, CEO of the Zotye Group, confirmed that the company has plans to build 11 Fiat-based models, but he has never disclosed which cars could be produce.

Zotye International was established in January 14, 2005. It belongs to Zotye Holding Group and is a foreign trade company with the status of independent legal person, it is a window and special institution for Zotye Holding Group to develop foreign trade, economic & technologic cooperation and technologic introduction.
