Zotye Holding Group Co., has recently bought from Fiat an assemble line, which is going to be used to produce Lancia Lybra. In the same time Chinese car maker acquired intellectual rights to this model and to 1.6L, 106 Hp petrol engine. The company wants to buy Fiat Multipla’s assemble line as well, right after finishing its production in 2009.

Zotye Nomad is being produced on Daihatsu license, and its Japanese equivalent is Terrios. The car was produced between 1997-2006 in nearly the same form. In the last year of production, Daihatsu presented a new model, thanks to what Zotye could acquire license to the older model. There are two engines driving the car – 1.3L (85Hp) and 1.6L (100Hp). In opposite to Terrios, Nomad is only rear wheel drive. According to proved information, it is only the matter of time when the all wheel drive version will appear. It is possible because of suspension’s construction, and the only problem is creating a transmission’s transfer to engines adapted from Mitsubishi.

Zotye Holding was established in 1992 in Yongkang City (Zhejiang province) and in the beginning it was a tinware’s supplier for automobile’s producers. The company has really ambitious plans, when remember, that first off-road – Zotye 2008 – was produced in January 2006. In the first year of production, there were 13,000 units of this car sold, from which 1,000 was exported. During first five months of 2007, there were 10,000 units sold. Prognosis for 2010 are saying about 300,000 cars produced by Zotye.
