The model has been being produced since 2001. Its design bases on Japanese pick-ups offered in USA, such as Toyota Tundra or Nissan Frontier. The car was built to be exported for North America market. Components used during its production come mainly from global producers. Double cab has got five seats. Grandtiger’s dimensions: 5,080 length, 1,480-parcel luggage, 1,505 mm width, and 480 mm height. Maximum load capacity is 825 kg with 1,610 kg of kerbweight. Available engines are exactly the same as in offroad Landmark.

The most popular engine is 2.4 16V SOHC Mitsubishi engine, 127 bhp (code: 4G64). The maximum torque is 196 Nm. 5-speed manual transmission is a standard. The car can reach 140 - 150 km/h of maximum speed. There is also 4-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive possible to choose. The engine fits Euro 3 emission standard. The old Nissan’s Diesel engine (code: QD32) is offered, which with 3.2 litres of capacity has 110 bhp of maximum power and 221 Nm of maximum torque. It fits only Euro 2 emission standard. Standard equipment includes: manual air conditioning, full electric system with radio CD. Safety elements depend on importer - producer agreement.

Volvo Car Corp. styling chief Peter Horbury is moving to the Swedish automaker's sister brand, Geely Group, as senior vice president of design - we can read in service autonewschina.com. He began his career with the Swedish automaker in 1991 as head of design, helping to create new models such as the XC90 crossover before he moved in 2002 to Ford's Premier Automotive Group. There, he oversaw design at Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo - autonewschina.com said.

In July, the nation's auto sales and output saw its first increase after two consecutive months of decline. Auto sales in China climbed 2.18 percent year-on-year to reach 1.28million units in July, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said Wednesday. The country produced 1.31 million cars in July, up 1.26 percent from one year earlier, the CAAM said.
