The Chinese debut of Fashion took place on 29th of May 2006. The car was produced on the strength of a joint venture agreement between Jiangling Motors and Chang’an Automobile, which was signed in October 2004. Fashion is the first van in the history of Landwind brand, which belongs to Jiangling Motors. The Italian stylish company I.D.E.A is responsible for the body design.

The company reserves that the car was design independently, and 133 patents registered in local patent authority are the proof. It took 42 months to start the car’s production. Journalist from Auto Bild has observed, that interior design with rear seats hidden in the floor is the same as it is in Opel Zafira. It is worth to say, that the car was produced on the same platform, which was used in the first passenger sedan offered by Landwind and Chang’an brands.

Landwind MPV is equipped with 1.6 litres petrol engine, 105 bhp of maximum power. There were some rumours saying, that it is Volkswagen’s engine. The reason of that is, that German company FEV Engine Technology (cooperating with Volkswagen and Opel) was working with designing this engine. 5-speed transmission comes from German supplier – Letarg GmbH&Cie KG. 2.0 litres engine with 140 bhp of maximum power is likely going to be offered as well.

Fashion is 7-placed car with following dimensions: 4,445 mm length, 1,768 mm width, and 1,640 mm height. Producer announces, that a new model will be very attractive for consumers, and as a standard equipment there will be: full windows’ electricity, central locking with remote, alloy wheels, radio with CD and MP3 player, automatic air conditioning, and even leather upholstery.

In the end of April 2007, modernized Landwind called “X-Pedition” appeared on French market. Elisabeth Young, president of Asie Auto company – Landwind’s stockist, ensured that in the end of the year the car is going to get official certification, which will be possible because of many modifications pioneered last time. Except of it, there are also trials to get official certification for mini MPV Fashion.

He began his career with the Swedish automaker in 1991 as head of design, helping to create new models such as the XC90 crossover before he moved in 2002 to Ford's Premier Automotive Group. Many car dealers in China are stressed these days, because most of their products failed to reach the new limit to get 3000 RMB (€340) subsidy for fuel-saving cars again - according to China Car Times. The subsidy policy for fuel-saving cars started from June 1, 2010, which has involved more than 400 models and 2 million cars. In July, the nation's auto sales and output saw its first increase after two consecutive months of decline. Auto sales in China climbed 2.18 percent year-on-year to reach 1.28million units in July, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said Wednesday. The country produced 1.31 million cars in July, up 1.26 percent from one year earlier, the CAAM said.
