China Automobile Polska – the next "bridgehead" of European project: China Automobile

Poland is the next development’s stage of European project – CHINA AUTOMOBILE, which is covering Europe very fast. The polish department will be running under the China Automobile Polska Sp. z o.o name. Similarly to other countries, Shuanghuan CEO will be the first model going to be sold. It is the first Chinese off-road car with European official certification.

Launch of next models in importer’s offer will depend on getting the official certification, which allows mass sale on the European market. The next model will be likely 3-door SUV Jonway UFO. Thanks to competetive price, it has chance to become the cheapest car on the polish market. The third “child” in the Chinese family will be probably GX6 made by GONOW – 5-seats SUV, with Mitsubishi 2.4L 16V engine as well, which was shown on this years Lipsk moto show. The car is going to be offered in future as pickup with double passenger cabin. All off-roads are to be cheaper than competition’s offer.

The company believes in big possibilities connected with three models produced by the Chinese potentate – Chery Automobile. Nevertheless, cars will be offered in Europe (in Poland as well) under Dragon brand, having a dragon logo, which is the trade of CHINA AUTOMOBILE. The smallest one will be called City (“A1” in China) and as the name shows, it is to compete in urban cars segment. The next model is 7-seats VAN Liner, being offered in China as “V5”. 5-door SUV Grand UFO (well known as „Tiggo”) will be in offer as well. The last one is the supplement the 3-door UFO’s version. The common element of all models – except the smallest City – is 2.4L (130 bhp) engine. It is produced under Mitsubishi license and has 195 Nm of maximum torque. Thanks to fulfilling the Euro4 standard, it is the most popular engine being used by Chinese producers.

Cars will have 3 years of warranty, being limited by 100,000 km of run. Service will be available in newly opened saloons, and replacements will be delivered from two magazines placed in Europe.

On January 16, Beijing Time, 2012 Dakar Rally lasting for two weeks came to an end in Lima, Capital of Peru. In the vehicle group, all Chinese racing teams completed the race; among them, Haval Racing Team for Dakar Rally not only ranked in top ten of the race for the first time together with famous racing teams including BMW and Hummer, but also created the best record of Chinese racing teams participating in the rally.

Recently Great Wall Motors built Voleex C30 and Voleex C20R have been approved by EU with WVTA. Following Florid, Coolbear, Haval, and Wingle, the complete series of Voleex saloon cars of Great Wall Motors have got this certification. This certification lasted for 1 year, and the certification organization of VCA in UK is responsible for the certification process which is considerably complicated and strict. Totally 48 testing items are involved in EU Certification, of which 13 are relating to active safety, 13 for passive safety, 8 for environmental protection. Fairly high standards have been set for the vehicles in regard to emission level, safety performance and environmental protection.

Bulgarian Great Wall Motor’s plant starts in February next year

Great Wall Motor Co., China's largest SUV maker, expects its joint venture assembly plant in Bulgaria to start producing vehicles in February - according to autonewschina.com. The factory, in the northern Bulgarian town of Lovech, is a joint venture between Great Wall and Bulgaria's Litex Motors Co. Chinese tycoon plans to set up a technology center in Europe to develop vehicles that comply with the European safety standards - autonewschina.com said.

After sixteen years Bulgaria is back on the car manufacturing map of Europe. The first Great Wall Motor Voleex C10 rolled off the assembly line in Lovech. Litex Motors, which is a local partner of Chinese tycoon, has began testing a new assembly line and starts first attempts synchronization of montage. Litex ensures that enters one of the most modern cars’ production management system, which will lead to high quality of products produced in this factory.

Volvo Car Corp. styling chief Peter Horbury is moving to the Swedish automaker's sister brand, Geely Group, as senior vice president of design - we can read in service autonewschina.com. He began his career with the Swedish automaker in 1991 as head of design, helping to create new models such as the XC90 crossover before he moved in 2002 to Ford's Premier Automotive Group. There, he oversaw design at Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo - autonewschina.com said.
